  • 24 dates, pitted
  • 2 ounce provolone cheese, cut into small rectangles
  • 8 slice bacon, cut into thirds
  • 0.25 cup barbecue sauce, plus more for serving


Preheat the oven to 400 degrees. 1. Slice the dates long ways on one side to place the cheese in. Do not cut all the way through. 2. Place a piece of the cheese into the cavity of each date. 3. Wrap each date with the bacon and secure with a toothpick. 4. Bake until the bacon is almost fully cooked, about 15 minutes. 5. Brush each date with barbecue sauce and bake until crispy, 2-3 minutes more. 6. Remove the toothpicks and serve warm, with barbecue sauce.
